First time last night at TJ's. Moved to Moorpark a year ago and have seen their "Prime Rib Saturday" sign along the road in front of the course numerous times. Finally made a reservation. Apparently they took too many 7 pm reservations and it took a few minutes to be greeted but our table was available. Bartender was pretty cool and unruffled and friendly - liked him a lot. The single waitress had her hands full between trying to seat folks, bus tables, take drink orders etc and the bartender helped out. The prime rib was served buffet style along with breast of turkey, au jus, gravy and the usual horseradish and cranberry condiments. Accompanied by whipped redskin potatoes and some of the best grilled veggies we've ever eaten, the meal was rounded out by a small but crispy fresh salad bar and crusty rolls. Prime rib was succulent, tender & juicy, and turkey seemed to be herb roasted with a crackly delicious bit of skin on the moist breast. The carvers were courteous and made sure your slice of prime rib was cooked to
your preference. When they ran out of Prime rib roast, individual slices were grilled to order. Music was supper club jazzy. The place was packed. What a great discovery! They lost one star for being understaffed but otherwise it was good food, reasonably priced, among friendly folks in a clubby atmosphere - just special enough for a night out but relaxed and not stuffy.
